Patrick Carney, a native of New Bedford, Massachusetts, discovered his passion for construction early in life, which eventually guided him into real estate. After losing his father at a young age, Pat took on the responsibility of supporting his family while attending Boston College by purchasing triple-decker multifamily homes in New Bedford and converting them into six-unit rental buildings. His efforts gradually expanded as he developed numerous properties and transitioned to larger projects, officially founding Claremont Companies in 1968.
Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Pat developed several large-scale multifamily properties across the South Coast of Massachusetts, in which many Claremont still own and operate today. Through these developments, Pat’s knowledge and expertise continued to grow as he cultivated his desire for success in the industry. This aptitude led Pat to expand Claremont’s development and ownership not only in multifamily, but into different asset classes such as hotels, office buildings, warehouses, and land.
Today, Pat leads the company’s overall investment strategy and oversees major transactions. Deeply involved in both the daily operations and long-term vision, he remains passionate about real estate and the company’s progress and expansion. Pat’s greatest joys are seeing Claremont’s continued growth, celebrating its achievements, and working alongside his three of five children, Patrick Jr., Ned, and Colleen, who play integral roles in the company’s ongoing success.
Beyond his responsibilities at Claremont, Pat has dedicated himself to giving back to the communities he serves in many ways, whether through educational or religious organizations. Pat served on the Boston College Board of Trustees for nearly three decades and co-founded the Catholic Foundation of Southeastern Massachusetts in 2018. Pat’s true passion is invested not only in the real estate industry, but also in giving back to the communities he serves and allowing others to grow and prosper.
